A Note from the Director

And we’re back…

The show you are about to see may have only been rehearsed a dozen times. Probably closer to half a dozen. But in a way, it’s been cooking for a decade. The three actors you are about to see onstage have performed together in various capacities for years. You’ve probably seen them onstage together if you’ve been to a Three Brothers performance. Because they have worked together so frequently, they have developed a short hand, a kind of language, and an environment to position themselves to both feel comfortable onstage and to perform together at their best. It is because of this feeling that I could tell them a few weeks ago that we’re going to put on a show that doesn’t exist except for the idea of a couple of characters. It’s why we’re able to create together and find something that is interesting onstage for you all today. It’s an experiment that I’m excited to present tonight and maybe even investigate further in the future. It’s a simple story, with lots of complicated backstory, which is, in a way, similar to life. Enjoy.

Darreyl Atkins

Darreyl is very excited to be working on yet another show with Three Brothers Theater. How many shows has Darreyl worked on with Three Brothers you ask? Great question, he doesn’t know either! Darreyl is also overjoyed to be working with Rick and Mike again, the older brothers he didn’t ask for, but got anyway. This show has been such a blast to rehearse and he hopes that the audience will get to see the proof of that in all of the performances.

Michael May

Michael Patrick May - This fella is thrilled and grateful to be in this play with this amazing cast of actors. He has been performing at Three Brothers for over ten years and is constantly amazed at the high levels of dedication and professionalism that are on display here. Michael is excited to be playing a totally made up character.

Richard W. Adams

Richard W Adams is an Iowa born, Chicago based actor/theatrical Swiss Army Knife. He is one of the founders and company members of 3 Brothers, where he has appeared in countless shows. Personal favorites have included Bernard in Boeing Boeing, Jonathan in Arsenic and Old Lace, Voldar in Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Elwood P Dowd in Harvey, Chris in The Play That Goes Wrong, and most recently Gov Jack Spencer in The Press Conference. When not on stage, he continues to bring children's stories to audiences with his #rickreadsabook series on Facebook, which he has done weekly since 2020. He is thrilled to be a part of such an amazing production with an equally amazing cast and crew. Thanks to Mike and Gina Adams for encouraging me to pursue my passion, Josh and Caroline Beadle for making our small little theater in Waukegan a staple of great art, Julie for being my rock and my 42, and of course YOU for coming to the show! He's not represented by anyone yet, but if you think his acting is pretty darn good, he'd love to grab a coffee or a beer and see what shakes out.
